📖 The Legend of the "Valley of Milk"
The name Doodhpathri literally translates to "Valley of Milk." Local lore suggests that the famous Kashmiri saint, Sheikh Noor-ud-din Noorani, once pricked the ground here with his walking stick to search for water, and milk gushed out instead! Today, the name also reflects the Shaliganga River, which crashes over stones with such force that it looks like frothing milk.

Doodhpathri isn't just one single spot; it is a sprawling landscape offering a variety of experiences for nature lovers:

Beautiful little hamlets and panoramic viewpoints you will cross just before reaching the main meadow. Perfect for quick photo stops.
🐎 Pony Rides to Shaliganga
Since motor vehicles are restricted in the main meadow, renting a pony is a popular way to reach the rocky banks of the frothing Shaliganga River.
🚗 Distance: About 42 km from Srinagar (approx. 1.5 to 2 hours drive).
🌤️ Best Time: May to September for the lush green grass. (Largely inaccessible in deep winter due to heavy snow).
