Located in the northwestern district of Kupwara, Lolab Valley is an oval-shaped stretch of land roughly 24 kilometers long. Known affectionately as Wadi-e-Lolab, its serene beauty inspired the legendary poet Allama Iqbal to pen verses in its honor. It is a place where crystal-clear springs flow through dense forests of pine and fir.
The Mystery of Kalaroos
One of Lolab's most intriguing attractions is the Kalaroos Caves (also known as Satbaran, meaning 'Seven Doors'). Carved into a massive copper-bearing rock face, local legends claim these ancient, unexplored tunnels stretch all the way to Russia! While the truth remains a mystery, the site offers a fantastic short trek and panoramic views of the valley below.

Distance: Approx. 115 KM from Srinagar (about a 3.5-hour drive). The roads are well-maintained up to Kupwara town.
Accommodation: Tourism infrastructure is developing, so it is best to book the JKTDC tourist bungalows in advance or plan it as a long day trip from Srinagar/Baramulla.
Hospitality: The people of Lolab are famously hospitable. Don't be surprised if you are invited in for a cup of Noon Chai!
