Manasbal Lake: The Serene Lotus Capital of Kasmir

MANASBAL LAKE

"The Gem of Ganderbal & The Deepest Blue"

Often overlooked by travelers rushing to the more famous Dal Lake, Manasbal is a hidden sanctuary of peace. Situated in the Ganderbal district, it holds the title of the deepest lake in Kasmir (reaching depths of 13 meters). Its name is believed to be a derivative of the sacred Mansarovar Lake.

A Summer of Lotuses

During July and August, the edges of Manasbal are transformed into a vibrant pink and green carpet of Lotus flowers. The lake is also a primary stop for thousands of migratory birds, making it a dream destination for birdwatchers and wildlife photographers.

Jarokbal: The Lake-View Garden

On the northern banks of the lake sits the Jarokbal Mughal Garden. Built by Empress Nur Jahan, this garden offers a commanding "Jaroka" (window) view of the entire lake. It is much quieter than the gardens in Srinagar, perfect for a peaceful afternoon picnic.

🛶 Boating: Enjoy a Shikara ride without the "tourist rush." You can see the clear water and the aquatic plants below.
🏛️ Ancient Ruins: Explore the remains of a 17th-century fort (Darogabagh) on the lake's banks.
